For those of you gearing up for Fox’s upcoming broadcast of Grease Live, get excited: Snippets of the show’s most familiar tracks have been released online for your listening pleasure.
Julianne Hough sings “Hopelessly Devoted to You,” a song that (fun fact!) doesn’t actually appear in the original musical version of Grease, but was written for the 1978 film version originally performed by Olivia Newton-John. Listen to Hough’s version below:
Other clips released include “Summer Nights,” “We Go Together” and “You’re The One That I Want,” all of which you can check out below.
Fox announced the
Grease Live slowly but surely: Julianne Hough is set to star as good-girl-gone-leather-wearer Sandy, while
(who also starred as Mimi in Neil Patrick Harris’ one-time live production of
Rent back in 2010) has been cast to play the role of Pink Lady Rizzo.
Broadway vet Aaron Tveit will play Danny, while Big Time Rush’s Carlos Pena Vega will play the role of Kenicke. And in a casting move that seems pretty spot-on,
Carly Rae Jepsen
was cast as beauty school dropout Frenchy.
Mario Lopez also joined the live production’s cast back in September as the radio announcer Vince Fontaine. He said,
in a statement
, "I’m excited to be a part of such an iconic musical as
Grease and to join a talented and cool cast. Just based on the music alone, I’m sure this is going to be the best live musical yet.”
Grease Live, which will be directed by Thomas Kail and Alex Ruzinski, is set to air on Fox on Sunday, January 31, 2016.
