Lufkin Police are investigating an aggravated robbery that took place early Thursday morning at a hotel located near the Loop 287-Highway 59 North interchange.

According to a Lufkin Police report, a Sleep Inn/MainStay clerk reported that a man with a knife robbed the business, taking video equipment and an undisclosed amount of money from cash registers. The clerk said she was in the dining area at the time and believes she had fallen asleep. She said she was then startled awake by a man holding a knife who told her to let him into the back and also asked her to open the safe. When she told him she could not get into the safe, he took two video hard drives and left.

She described him as a Hispanic male in his mid 20s, wearing blue jeans, a black shirt and a pair of blue Under Armor pants around his face. The incident remains under investigation.
