October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and KICKS 105 has teamed up with CHI St. Luke's Health Memorial - Lufkin to use our on air and online platforms to help educate women in East Texas on how to best prevent this disease.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and CHI St. Luke’s Health-Memorial Lufkin and the Volunteer Auxiliary are spreading the word about early detection and the importance of regular mammograms with some unlikely accomplices…pink flamingos!
Judy Blume, author of many popular children’s books from the 1970s, revealed that she has been privately battling breast cancer since June. She shared the news on her blog, via a humorously written post titled ‘!@#$% Happens.’
You know the saying 'Humor is the best medicine'? Bob Carey does too. He wears a pink tutu for breast cancer.
The Tutu Project started out as just a little fun. Back in 2003 when Carey took a picture of himself in a tutu and donated it to the Arizona Ballet for a fund raiser. Then his wife Linda was diagnosed with breast cancer.
Are mammograms actually effective? Several conflicting studies have come out in the past few years, leading some to pose this question. Don’t fear though ladies. An even newer studyfrom Dutch researchers indicates that they do work, but older women might be getting more out of them.
