Texas State Fair Announces This Year’s Strange, But Tasty Top Foods
It's almost fair time. One of the best things about the fair, any fair is the food. Of course the State Fair of Texas is the king of strange but tasty foods. The best foods for this year were announced on Sunday.
I've noticed there is theme this year and just about every year actually. Take strange edible things roll or drop them into some tasty batter then drop them into a big ol' Fry Daddy and there ya go. Okay, it's a little more creative and involved than that but you get the idea.
It's the Big Tex Choice Awards. We've been hearing about Fried Jell-O and it must be good because it won "Best Taste." It looks like a round fried jelly donuts and best of all ...it looks delicious.
"Most Creative" went to Cookie fries. Yes, that's right cookies that are cut into strips and fried, but instead of serving with ketchup they are served with a chocolate or strawberry sauce.
Some of the runners up include:
Deep Fried Pulled Pork Funyun Dings. Oh how I love this idea. Funyuns with pulled pork, cheese bacon and pineapple in the middle then battered up and deep fried. Bring it on!
Deep-Fried Bacon Burger Dog Slider on a Stick. Need I say more? Then there is the Chicken Pot Pie Pockets with Mac and Cheese dip and the Injectable Great Balls of BBQ.
Which one are you ready to try?
The Texas State Fair takes place in Dallas from September 30 to October 23.
