Everyone knows about Texas pride, but only us East Texans know that special pride of being from the very best chunk of Texas.

Answer our poll at the bottom of the page so we can settle this once and for all. If we come to a consensus everyone can avoid this East Texas identity crisis.

When I was growing up,everyone just said we were from East Texas, but then somehow Tyler started saying they were East Texas, so the folks from Lufkin, Nacogdoches, Diboll, Livingston, etc. started having to start saying were were from Deep East Texas. This was the only way to differentiate ourselves, and this is a HUGE area, so I think we need our own name.

I don't know about you, but if you watch my Deep Thoughts series, you'll see that I think "Deep East Texas" sounds gross.

Some people call us the Piney Woods, but others say it's just one word, "Pineywoods."  Looking at a map you'll see that we're in the armpit of Texas, but that doesn't sound like an appealing name we can be proud of. I really like Texas Forest Country, but it's so long. I am not trying to sway your vote in any way.  Just letting you get a feel for the train of thought I was having about this. Derailed as it might be! So scroll down and get to voting!
